GROUP LEVELS

LEVEL 1.  Mums and bubs (aged 6months-2.5 yrs) 

  • build confidence in the water 

  • safe entry and exit from pool

  • comfortable being submerged in water and back floating with assistance 

  • perform an assisted fall from side of pool, turn around and hold onto wall

  • perform an assisted bubbles

  • perform a monkey crawl holding side of pool assisted

  • perform assisted kicking 

  • gain an understanding of where the stairs are

 

LEVEL 2.   (2.5 yrs+) 

  • gain confidence and familiarity in the water

  • safe entry and exit from pool

  • develop kicking legs 

  • perform face submerging and blow bubbles

  • perform an assisted back float

  • perform an assisted jump into water and return to side

  • gain an understanding of where the stairs are 

  • perform a monkey climb along wall unassisted

  • climb out of pool at wall unassisted

  • float on stomach with face submerged

  • perform an unassisted fall from side of pool, turn around and hold onto wall

 

LEVEL 3.                                             

  • safe entry and exit from pool

  • perform a correct streamline position

  • perform basic freestyle arms for 2m 

  • perform kicking legs with kick board 

  • perform forward breathing with kick board and kicking

  • perform assisted basic back kicking while hugging kick board

  • retrieve toy underwater assisted

  • retrieve goggles from underwater assisted

  • perform an unassisted fall from side of pool, turn around and hold onto wall

  • perform freestyle catch up arms with kick board 

 

LEVEL 4.  

  • safe entry and exit from pool

  • retrieve toy underwater unassisted

  • retrieve goggles underwater unassisted

  • perform correct freestyle streamline for 5m 

  • perform consistent freestyle arms for 7m

  • perform unassisted back kicking with kick board at knees & above head

  • perform unassisted side kick 

  • perform a dive off their knees (1 or 2)

  • perform freestyle catch up arms without kick board 

  • perform a flip assisted (blowing bubbles out of nose)

 

LEVEL 5.   (5yrs+) Primary School

  • perform forward breathing with kick board and kicking for 25m

  • perform basic bilateral breathing with kick board for 15m 

  • perform a back torpedo 

  • perform basic backstroke arms for 15m 

  • perform a flip unassisted 

  • perform a basic standing dive

  • perform streamline dolphin kick for 5m 

 

LEVEL 6.  

  • •    perform propelled kicking in streamline position

  • perform technique freestyle arms

  • perform bilateral breathing with/without kick board for 25m 

  • perform backstroke for 25m

  • perform basic breaststroke kicking with kick board 

  • perform streamline dolphin kick with pop-up breathing for 15m 

  • perform basic tumble turn (stroke-flip-push-propel)

  • perform controlled standing dive

LEVEL 7.  

  • perform consistent bilateral breathing with correct style for 50m

  • perform backstroke with correct style for 50m

  • perform breaststroke kicking with/without kick board 

  • understand breaststroke sequence (pull-breath-kick-glide) for 15m

  • perform basic butterfly with arms and kick for 15m 

  • perform tumble turn with control

  • perform standing dive and swim for 25m

 

LEVEL 8.  ​

  • endurance in freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke increases to 100m+

  • perform controlled butterfly without flippers for 25m

  • perform controlled butterfly with flippers for 50m

  • perform starts & turns for all 4 strokes

  • perform dive and swim for 50m

  • Stroke correction

  • Endurance in all 4 strokes 

      perform race start
